As we begin a new membership year on September 1, I want to extend a warm welcome to each of you and share my excitement for what lies ahead.
This past year, we ended on a high note—with the largest number of members in the province in six years. That growth is not just a number—it’s a powerful reflection of our collective commitment to the profession, to one another, and to the role the CBA plays in strengthening the legal community in Nova Scotia.
I am pleased to welcome new leaders to our Board who will help shape the year ahead:
- Sean MacDonald (Cape Breton) – Member Services Chair
- Megan Ross (Dartmouth) – Communications Chair
- Jillian Houlihan (Halifax) – Advocacy Chair
- Robbie Mason (Dartmouth/Bridgewater) – Young Lawyers Chair
Their voices and vision will bring fresh energy and new perspectives as we continue to grow and evolve.
Looking forward, I am inspired by the possibilities that lie ahead for our Association. My priorities as President for this year include:
- Supporting In-House Lawyers: As the practice of law evolves, we will ensure in-house colleagues are supported with meaningful programming and opportunities to connect, learn, and lead.
- Strengthening Partnerships: Together we are stronger. By working hand-in-hand with our sister associations across Nova Scotia, we can amplify our collective impact and create even greater opportunities for collaboration.
- Advancing Issues That Matter: Our profession is changing, and so are the challenges we face. CBA-NS will continue to be a strong, principled voice on the issues that matter to you—ensuring that your perspectives shape the future of law in our province.
I invite you to take full advantage of all that CBA-NS has to offer—join us at events, share your ideas, and connect with colleagues old and new.
I look forward to connecting with many of you throughout the year at our events and programs. Thank you for your ongoing commitment—your engagement is what makes our association thrive.
Here’s to another exciting and successful year ahead!
