CBA-NS wants to help lawyers be leaders in preventing harassment in their own profession.
The bystander intervention training began in 2020 as an initiative of the CBA-NS Sexual Harassment Working Group. The training recognizes the important role that lawyers play in creating cultural change within the community, and to ensure that legal workplaces are respectful, safe and supportive environments for all.
Participants learn practical steps to take after witnessing sexual harassment (or other inappropriate behaviour) in the workplace, as well as the barriers faced by victims, the cost of the cost of not addressing it, and other issues around gender relations in the legal profession.
