Did You Know....?
- The Chair of the Advocacy Committee is a member of the Executive Committee of the Branch per Bylaw Art. 9(d).
- The Chair and Vice Chair are appointed by the Nomination Committee in accordance with Bylaws, Art. 11 - 13.
- The term of office for the Chair and Vice Chair is set for a period fixed by their appointment [Art. 20(a)].
The Quick and Dirty to “Who Does What With Whom”?
Branch Sections Are Responsible For:
- tracking issues through legislature, municipal governments and the courts;
- identifying key decision-makers and stakeholders;
- providing expertise on substantive and procedural issues;
- prioritizing and mobilizing on issues calling for a response;
- timely agreement on a response to issues, by ratifying written submissions; and
- participating and organizing consultations and forums with stakeholders.
The Executive (Including the Advocacy Committee) Is Here To...
- provide you with guidance and direction when making proposals and submissions;
- coordinate consultation among the constituent bodies of the CBA(NS);
- consolidate and maintain online resources for tracking legislative changes;
- work with decision-makers to promote early notification of law reform initiatives;
- ensure that all Advocacy initiatives are compliant with provincial and national policies and bylaws;
- assist sections with developing a strategic lobbying and media plan;
- prepare and table resolutions and budget plans for consideration by council;
- organize meetings with key decision-makers;
- assist in preparing officeholders for meetings and appearances; and
- develop and maintain a Provincial Submissions database.
