Established in 2014, the Section Award of Excellence celebrates and recognizes the outstanding contribution of a CBA Nova Scotia Section in providing service to members, promoting Sections and furthering the objectives of the Association.
CBA members (including Section Chairs and/or Vice Chairs) are encouraged to consider the criteria and nominate their own or another Section.
Eligibility
All CBA Nova Scotia Sections are eligible for this award (not individual Section members).
Sections can be nominated by any current CBA Nova Scotia member. A Section is not eligible to receive the award for more than one consecutive year.
Criteria
The Committee will assess nominations against the following criteria:
- Demonstrated innovation
- Exceptional value provided to Section members
- Excellence in contributing to CBA advocacy work
- Excellence in providing professional development programming
- Increased Section activity
- Increased participation by Section members in Section activities
- Excellence in communication (newsletters, webpage content, etc.)
Nomination Procedure
Nominations must contain an explanation of how the nominated Section has made an outstanding contribution to CBA Nova Scotia, providing examples of how the Section has met the nomination criteria (max 2,000 characters).
Nominations must also be supported by a letter or email endorsing the Section’s nomination (provided by a CBA member other than the nominator). Additional supporting information (e.g. copies of advocacy work, publications, professional development, etc.) may also be provided.
Nominations must include confirmation that the Chair (or the Vice Chair) of the nominated CBA Nova Scotia Section is aware of the nomination and will attend the award ceremony.

Selection Process
The Award is administered by the Nominating Committee, a standing Committee of the Nova Scotia Branch. The Committee may determine that no Award shall be granted in any one year.
Presentation
The Award is presented annually at the AGM or other CBA-NS event.
