How we work

At CBA-NS, we carry out the vision and mission of the Canadian Bar Association in Nova Scotia. CBA Board members are elected by the current Board of Directors, Branch Presidents and National Section Chairs.

CBA Nova Scotia Governance

CBA-NS is governed by our branch bylaws and policies along with the bylaws of the CBA. Our Board of Directors is made up of nine members responsible for advancing the work of the NS branch. The Board provides strategic leadership, ensuring the branch has the necessary resources to operate effectively while overseeing the impact of its advocacy, programs, and initiatives.

The CBA-NS Council acts as the forum to facilitate advisory discussions among the volunteer leaders of CBA Nova Scotia.

Our Executive Director leads all CBA-NS operations and manages our team so we can support and serve our members.

National governance

Our national association is governed by a President, supported by a 15-member Board of Directors. The National Board represents the diversity of Canada’s legal profession, including practice types, experience, skills, geography and more. All provinces and territories have a seat at the table.
